Bio Break

I haven’t done and ode to another blog in a long time. I enjoy taking the time out of my mindless rambling to talk about other blogs. I am very passionate about reading the blogs I read. I feel like I connect with those people and think about what they are thinking. Spotlighting other blogs is not a way for them to see me or relink me, it is my way of telling everyone, I enjoy that blog very much. If I didn’t have these blogs to read, my day would drag on forever and I wouldn’t get to connect with 100′s of people around the world. Blogging and being part of a blogging community is a great thing. I enjoy blogging and reading blogs more than the games we all play. The least I can do is say, “hey dude, you are doing awesome job. Thanks for the great read!”

This week I want to talk about Syp. I will leave out the stalker thoughts about him and simply say he is doing awesome job. No matter what, where, when, who, and how, Syp does a great job covering the subject. He is a great writer and inspires a lot of people.

I was thinking about what Syp has done for the MMO blog community. I see a lot of great blogs talking about him. I see a lot of great blogs starting up because of him. I see a pattern to the MMO blog community that hinges around him. When he first started writing the blog WAAAGH! I saw a bunch of new blogs spring to life and a lot of them were commenters from his blog. I know, I was one of them. There was something about his wonderful writing style that made a lot of us crave writing. If you can think back to a time when you first started blogging and ask yourself, “Did Syp inspire me in anyway?”

I bet the answer is yes. In the community of bloggers I read, more than 70% of them started up because of him. He is like the lug nut at the center of a spoked wheel. He has helped build a great blogging community and has never asked anything in return.

I wanted to take the time to tell him thanks. A lot of us started a great hobby because of him. He might not have done it on purpose, but it was his excellent writing and great attitude, that inspired us all. I would tell you to check out his blog, but I know you already do.

Thanks Syp for helping me start a great journey!

Syp really is an inspirational figure in the MMO blogging scene. He has a talent for writing and stays entertaining even in posts where you can tell something rubbed him the wrong way. Not to mention, the guy is freaking prolific. I don’t know of a single blogger, Tobold might be close, that writes as much as he does. That passion is really evident in the content he produces.

More than anything though, he’s just a nice guy. We’ve had him on our podcast a couple of times and it’s always been a lot of fun talking with him.

I like what you’re doing here, Scary. This is nice stuff :-)

Syp IS prolific, I can’t say enough good things about him. If it wasn’t for him I wouldn’t be video game blogging either.

I think I have a man crush on him. LOL!

He is essentially the gaming blog’s Superman (as per his avatar)!

That said, I also love smaller, more “real unbaised” blogs like yours Scary. When people write what they feel, even if I disagree with it, I know I’ve had a good read.
