I wanted a feel form the SWG fans what they thought of Star Wars The Old Republic. I know this is just one persons opinion, but it is a snapshot of a die-hard fan. Not the average player. Take it how you will, but a super fan of something has a lot of heart and is one of the most interesting interviews I have ever done. Thanks again for taking the time to answer my questions Arrto Dell.

How long have you played Star Wars Galaxies?

Approximately one year, ten months.

As a huge fan of SWG, are you interested in Star Wars The Old Republic?

Possibly, but, for me, it depends on if it has a Space system at least on par with SWG’s Jump to Lightspeed.

If you are interested in SWTOR, do you plan on playing it instead of SWG or both?

That also depends. It seems to me like SWTOR will be more guided content, whereas SWG is more sandbox-like. I’ll definitely be trying SWTOR though.

I see you are in a guild for SWG. How many of your members plan on trying SWTOR?

Off the top of me head, I can think of probably three or four that are interested in it/heard of it, and one that will most likely play it as much as/more than he plays SWG.

Do you think SWTOR is going to hurt the SWG player base when it releases?

Initially, yes. But, after the comotion it is sure to generate dies down, I think there will actually be an increase in SWG’s player base, as there will be players that are interested in the more classic Galactic Civil War era of Star Wars, and they’ll be around to try SWG out.

If you have been following SWTOR, what is the most interesting part of the game that catches your eye?

From the little that I have followed it, it seems to me that everyone is expecting it to be like what SWG was before the infamous changes (i.e. the Combat Upgrade, and the New Game Enhancements, or NGE) that Sony Online implemented. I personally do not expect that, but, we will see!

Are you signed up for the SWTOR beta?

No, unfortunately, they only seem to want gamers over the age of eighteen. Had the signup been one year from the date it was on, I would probably be in the beta. But, it makes little difference to me, as I’m a die-hard SWG player anyway, and don’t see myself devoting more time to another MMO.

If you are going to play SWTOR what class that has been announced, will you play?

I’m not sure. I’m a Pilot at heart, so, it depends on if there is some sort of Space system in SWTOR. If there is a space system comparable to Jump to Lightspeed, I’ll probably play any class that has greater abilities for/more content for the piloting side of the game.
